Can Shale Save Argentina?

Argentina has endured its share of economic and political woes in recent decades, culminating in 2001’s default on some $82 billion of foreign debt — at the time the largest sovereign default in history. But a combination of good geology and better governance means the country could soon be enjoying the economic benefits of its vast Vaca Muerta shale play, widely considered the most promising shale resource outside the US.
